Key Assets Newfoundland and Labrador (KANL) provides family-based and residential care along with a wide variety of programming and other services to support children, youth and families. Working in partnership with statutory bodies, KANL strives to develop creative and innovative programs for the provision of unique and supportive services, tailored to meet the needs of children, youth, and families, and designed to work towards improving outcomes.  KANL is currently recruiting in St. John’s, NL for the position of:

Clinical Therapist
(Permanent Full-time Position)

 

At Key Assets, the clinical therapist works collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team with parents, caregivers, service providers and other practitioners towards improving outcomes for children, youth and families. The clinical therapist utilizes a broad range of theoretical frameworks to address complex practice situations and provides therapeutic counselling and supportive services for children, youth and families primarily involved with KANL. The clinical therapist develops and delivers training and education programs to support children, youth, families, staff and caregivers.

 

This position provides intervention in situations where the application of professional analysis is essential and where independent judgment in determining appropriate strategies, and developing, implementing, and analyzing treatment plans is required. The clinical therapist will conduct research, provide analysis and utilizes theoretical frameworks to address the needs presented by clients and also design, develop, deliver and evaluate educational seminars, training and presentations for service providers, client groups, professionals and community groups.

 

The clinical therapist provides supervision and evaluation of undergraduate and graduate social work students; consults with the management group and other staff members to develop, design, implement and evaluate new programs; compiles workload statistics and maintains accurate and comprehensive records of client assessment, treatment intervention and progress; prepares reports; completes legal documents; provides testimony in court; and performs other related duties as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Education & Experience:
To be successful in this role, the candidate is required to have:

 

  • A Masters’ Degree in Social Work or Clinical and/or Counselling Psychology
  • 3-5 years clinical experience and practice
  • Must be registered and in good standing with a professional regulatory body in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Training and experience working in specialized areas such as child development, mental health, grief, and trauma.
  • Knowledge of and experience in play therapy would be considered an asset.

Additional Requirements:

 

  • Clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from RNC/RCMP
  • Child Protection Clearance Check granting clearance
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Drivers Abstract
  • Standard First Aid/CPR certification
  • Valid Proof of Canadian Residency
