Kim graduated from Memorial University with a Master of Social Work degree in 1997. She was awarded the Fellow award for academic excellence upon completion of her degree. Kim is a registered Social Worker in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and has over 25 years of clinical practice experience in treating children, adolescents and adults with mental health issues.
Kim practices from a trauma informed and strengths based perspective. Therapeutic approaches are rooted in a foundation of developmental theory, neuro relational theory and systems theory. Kim uses a wide variety of therapeutic approaches in her clinical work, including: play therapy, trauma therapy, narrative therapy, emotionally focused therapy, Gottman’s method of couple’s therapy as well as cognitive and behavioral therapy.
Kim works with children, adolescents, adults, families and couples in the areas of mental health, trauma, separation and divorce , parenting concerns, depression, anxiety, attachment, life transitions, relationships, and grief.
