I have been practicing social work for 19 years and I have been providing mental health counseling for 10 years. I have a Master of Social Work degree from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Memorial University. Additionally, I completed a Certificate in Addictions Studies from McMaster University. I am a registered social worker through the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers (NLASW).
I work collaboratively with clients to identify strengths, skills, and changes in behaviors to accomplish their goals. I draw upon a number of approaches in therapy, based on needs, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Anti-Oppressive Practice.
I work with youth and adults, and I have expertise in helping in diverse areas, including: anxiety, depression, gender identity, grief and loss, life transitions, self-harm and suicidality, sexual orientation, stress management, substance use, trauma, values work, and work and life balance.
I have a passion and appreciation for life and learning. I enjoy time in nature, opportunities for creative expression, travel, and meaningful connections with family and friends.
