KANL is currently recruiting in Labrador for the position of:
Child & Youth Care Workers
(supporting our Family Engagement Program)
(Full-time Contractual)
We are looking for innovative and creative Child & Youth Care Workers to provide care, engagement, intervention and support to children and youth with complex needs and their families. The work is varied, specifically tailored to the individual family and will include relationship building; work in the family home and in the community; individual and family goal setting; planning and participating in social and recreational activities; teaching life skills; providing any type of supports necessary and developing and implementing individualized intervention plans.
The successful applicants must be confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, self-aware, physically active, and able to safely intervene in crisis situations. Shift work, including weekends, is required.
Education & Experience:
To be successful in this role, the candidate is required to have:
• Diploma/degree in child and youth care or a related discipline.
• A minimum of 1-year related work experience in working with children, youth and families.
• Ability to demonstrate experience of working with children and youth with challenging behavior.
• Have sound knowledge of Child Protection Legislation, Regulations, Policy and Procedures, and clinical practices associated with working with children, youth and families.
• Valid Crisis Prevention and Intervention certification (CPI, TCI or UMAB), ASIST, would be an asset.
Additional Requirements:
• Clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check from RNC/RCMP.
• Child Protection Clearance Check from the Department of Children, Seniors and Social Development granting clearance.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clear drivers abstract.
• Current and valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
• Valid proof of Canadian residency.
• Access to a personal vehicle and $2 million business liability insurance.
