We are a growing company seeking a Financial Controllerto join our team. The position is located St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, with occasional travel to our locations Ontario and Nova Scotia.
Financial Controller
(Permanent Full Time Position)
As the Financial Controller, you will provide oversight of the financial processes and systems for Key Assets Canada. You will ensure financial and legal compliance with all legislative requirements under non-profit and charity legislation in Canada. As a member of the team, you will develop and implement accountable and sustainable financial practices.
Some of the core duties of this role will include the following:
- Assume responsibility for the accounting activities of the organization.
- Formulate and prepare various reports, including accounting financial reports, income statements, balance sheets, forecasts, etc.
- Formulating budgets and developing financial forecasts in line with business plans and company targets.
- Support provincial directors in achieving budget objectives through monitoring of scheduled expenditures, evaluation of performance, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions where required.
- Act as the primary contact and support person for the financial systems of Key Assets, including annual audits.
- Support other members of the finance team and work collaboratively and support the team through effective training, motivation, and communication.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the business by implementing key areas identified in the business plan.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, the candidate will require:
- A bachelor’s/master’s degree in business.
- CA or CPA designation is mandatory.
- 8+ years experience in a senior financial managerial function.
- Extensive knowledge of accounting practices and procedures, financial principles, and concepts.
- Strong interpersonal skills to manage internal and external relationships.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Knowledge of Sage Accounting software will be considered an asset.
· Clear Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check.
· Child Protection Clearance Check granting clearance.
· Valid Driver’s License.
· Clear Driver’s Abstract.
· Use of a private vehicle.
· Proof of citizenship.
